Day 10.

We have returned. We were gone for three days. Three long days. We went on a rescue mission for some family members of Jay's. Once we got there, the plan was to stay 1 night then leave in the early morning but by the time we got there we were surrounded by infected. We knew we werent going to leave. So we had a plan to run from house to house, pick up any supplies, make it to the end of the block and load up on the truck and get the hell out of here. Sadly, Jays little brother was left behind. He made the decision himself to be the distraction for us. He said he was going to meet up with us later. I believe him. We went along with the plan and made it to the truck. We got on the freeway and bolted towards home. And of course something else goes wrong, our truck runs out of gas. So we had to walk back. The good thing was around this area is a bunch of retirement homes. So a lot of the infected seem to move extra slow.

Once we got here, Jay had to break the news to his parents about his brother. They know he's not dead. Somehow they just know. They were glad to see the rest of there extended family. I came home to see my new fiance. She is still as beautiful as ever. I proposed to her the day I left. I don't know what I would do without her by my side spiritually. She keeps me going through this apocalypse.

It's time for me to try and relax for the rest of the day.
We are still here. Costco in Irvine, CA 1234 Irvine Lane. If anyone is out there please message me and we will do what we can to help.

Day 9.

This is not Jeff. This is Michelle. He left Friday morning for a distress message he had gotten here. We have not heard from the group since. They went to Anaheim for a family member of Jay. If you've heard of their whereabouts please message me. We wouldn't know what to do without them.

Day 5. A New Perspective.

This is Jay, and this is my first time reporting my horrific experiences here at Costco. Honestly I feel as though I am writing a eulogy for my friends and family as I write in this 5-star notebook, with shaking hands. To start, I have been a good friend of Jeff’s since High School PE. And believe me if it weren’t for him and his open minded attitude, I would still be that kid who never had a group and was always “put into” one. We became friends rather quickly as we found out we shared the same tastes in sports and music. We had been hanging out since high school and after for a while, well until all hell broke loose. I remember quite well as the events were scorched in my mind…It happened fast, really fast. I don’t know where to start, there were screams and metal and tires screeching on the streets as the virulent plague swept through Anaheim as if God had forsaken humanity. I was in daze as I saw the events unfold before me as if I was watching Resident Evil the movie. I was jolted back to life that instant when Jeff called to confirm the horrific events and set up a rendezvous point for our families. And instinctively, I shoved current events to the back of my mind as my survival instincts kicked in. I got my sleeping mom and dad together and dragged my 14 year old chubby brother out of the bathroom and headed for the garage. We got our necessities in a bag and dumped them in the back of my mom’s gray 2009 corolla Toyota. My mom and dad and brother got into the toyota, and headed for Jeff’s house while I got into my baby, a 2-door silver 06 civic. As I turned the key to start the 1.8liter engine my radio burst into life. It was defaulted at 105.9 and of all the hip hop artists, Drake’s retarded (and I don’t use the term loosely) rhetoric blasted through my speakers “what am I doing, what am I doing…oh yea that’s right im doin me…” Could this day get any worse I thought to myself…little did I know of the darkness that awaited us. As we raced past red lights, the sky was streaked with Apachi helicopters and news helicopters…It was a sight to behold. We came to a screeching halt in front of Jeff’s three bedroom house where I had spent many my days idling around. Seems like those glory days are over, and all too soon. It was pitch black, it seemed, even the moon hid its stage presence from the darkness below. We got out of the cars to meet up. We decided on Costco on Irvine as our next point as Jeff had a brother who worked the grave shift, and honestly what better place than a ware house with giant metal doors and an infinite supply of necessities. We got there around 3 am, without too much incident, well it seems that way after 5 days of living through hell. I had run over at least four people as they tried crossing the streets frantically that day. I did not care for their safety as fear had already found refuge in my heart. When we arrived, we set shelters and barricades quickly and for the first time in what seemed like ages, I calmed down. As I looked around me, I noticed as the scenery was one of chaos and mischief. As if the day of judgment had come. As I looked around, our friends and family were either crying for too many reasons, or pretended to be strong…

From there, me and Jeff and a couple of others got together and held a meeting. Believe me it was no picnic as we somehow managed to bring order by picking Jeff as the leader, as since PE class, he had the qualities of a leader. We even managed to set up groups for different purposes. I was put in charge of recon and surveillance. As I write now, already 5 days have passed since what seemed like the dream. That’s enough for today; sleep fatigue and paranoia are weighing me down, and it’s time to retire for the night. As Jeff has mentioned many times, we are here at Costco in Irvine, and as always if anyone is in need of assistance, we will be more than glad to help.

Day 4.

Today was interesting to say the least. Emotions are starting to run high. I am seeing a clear line thats separating the families here. Religion was driving us apart. The constant bickering of Catholicism and Islam was driving me insane. In my opinion, religion can go fuck itself right about now. Sorry for the language but praying isn't going to drive away those zombies. Our only hope is to survive the best we can until help comes. Anyway, I simply reminded both families of the rules and told them if they couldn't agree I would get them running two consecutive guard duties in a row (that includes day and night). To my surprise they listened to me. You can still feel the tension but the shared fear of being eaten alive got them to work together.

We had an attack while we were siphoning gasoline from the cars. About 4 roamers spotted us and charged. We held our ground and shot. No one was hurt but the worst has yet to come. They are out there and they can hear our gunshots. Only time will tell when more of the start showing up.

I'm going to propose to my girlfriend of the past 5 years. I've loved her unconditionally since I've met her. I'm 19, yet I don't know if I'll last til my next birthday. She has been by my side through a god forsaken apocalypse and supported me through it. If I don't want to die knowing that I didn't marry her when I had the chance. If you could only see her. Her smile makes this situation worth fighting for. Her spirit drives me to lead my family and friends. Her toughness makes me stronger. Her love completes my life.

I'll have someone new writing in this tomorrow. I don't want to be the only one on here sharing my stories. I'll be back Friday or Saturday writing. As for tomorrow and Thursday, I'll have my best friend share his experience with this epidemic. This is Jeff signing out. We are still here. Costco in Irvine, CA 1234 Irvine Lane. If anyone is out there please message me and we will do what we can to help.

Day 3.

Apparently we have some neighbors. Let me explain. Earlier today we were scavenging the area to find another to communicate to the people who don't have computers.Oh that reminds me I never explained how we still have an internet connection running. When the infection grew to such an uncontrollable size, the government had seized many of the ISP's in the U.S. to keep the communications to those stuck in the middle of this mayhem going. Sadly, due too mass chaos, many telephone poles that were used to connect to the Internet were destroyed causing many people to lose not only their only means of communications but also electricity. Luckily, we're in a stable enough area to keep the internet going. But anyways, as we were looting through the cars trying to find any items that were useful to us, we found a walkie talkie one of security rooms. Now this was a pretty high tech one. But there was just that one. We put some batteries in it to see if it still worked. It did. And someone picked up. It was another security guard from a Wal-mart down the plaza about a 200 yards away from us. He said he was holding about 40 something non-infected with him. We aren't alone here. He told us that he was an ex-navy veteran that had to work as a security guard. He said that guy I killed was his friend. They both had the same shifts and would talk to each other over the radio when they weren't busy. And I then realized that I couldn't see the people that I cared about die in such a horrible way. I just couldn't. We made a deal to take some of there more elderly survivors and some medical supplies for guns and ammunition. So we got in a truck loaded it with pills from the pharmacy and went on our way. We took in about 5 people. A family of 3: grandfather, little boy, and daughter. And an elderly couple. We loaded them up, got our guns and got the hell out of there. The family of three are from Tustin and the elderly couple are from a retirement home right down the street. I saw fear in there eyes. The men both served in World War 2, these guys saw first hand what destruction was. These guys saw it all. Apparently not. I could sense the fear. The fear of what used to be only as real as the Boogeyman. We tried to make them feel as comfortable as we could. We set up more tents, gave them bigger portions at dinner, and conversed with them. The elderly couples names were: Margret and Robert Dorian. The families names were: James, Melissa, and Aiden Miller. Felt good to meet new people. But later that night we saw something. Actually two things. 2 zombies. Fuck, this is how it starts. First its only one or two roamers, then you got a cluster, then you got a wave, then... well lets just say I've never heard of anyone surviving a wave of those fuckheads. We gotta start being more careful. In the mean time, we are still here. Costco in Irvine, CA 1234 Irvine Lane. If anyone is out there please message me and we will do what we can to help.

Day 2.

Nightmares. Reality. Today made me realize that there is no difference between the two. I shot a man. Or at least he was a man. A lone zombie was wondering as we were siphoning gasoline from the cars in the parking lot. He ran up to my brother and I so fast I barely had enough time to react. I shot him in the head and he just laid there dead. Well re-dead. But I thought to myself, this guy probably had a wife and kids. Yet I felt nothing. That's what scared me. I didn't care what I had to do to stay alive and keep my family and friends safe. We finished up getting the gasoline that we needed. Only what we need. We cannot be greedy in a world like this. Later in the afternoon, an unexpected visitor came by. An old friend and his gang. His name was Kevin. Smart, skinny Asian fellow. Apparently, he got a hold of my post and rushed down here. He told us of his lost relatives and beloved friends. I knew the rest of his friends since we all went to the same high school. Everyone thought they were pretty weird in high school; they watched anime, played video games, you know, normal geeky stuff. But they got the last laugh. Like me, they were pretty prepared if a zombie attack ever came. His most notable companions were: Dean was the soft hearted giant, Jose was the thrill seeking junkie, and his brother Vu was the  know-it-all guy that everyone loved to hate. He didn't talk about what happened with the rest of his family. I didn't want to bring it up, he seemed pretty distraught when I asked the first time. Now we got about 20 people living here. I took upon myself to make rules for this place.

  • Rule 1. Never go out alone. Especially without notifying at least 3 people.
  • Rule 2. Work together. To survive, we all gotta mesh well and respect each other.
  • Rule 3. Everyone will pull their weight. We must all work so we can survive.
  • Rule 4. No mercy. I know this sounds insensitive but if one of us has been bitten, it could spell doom for the rest of the group.
  • Rule 5. Everyone is equal. There maybe a leader but everyone has a say in what is decided in this place.
  • Rule 6. Stay alive. Self explanatory.
Those are our rules. We must follow them if we ever wish to survive this ordeal. That's all that really happened today. My mother made dinner. The fathers refueled the generators. Don't worry though we got enough cars around this area to keep the generators running for awhile. At least until rescue comes along. I hope this message gets out, We are here. Costco in Irvine, CA 1234 Irvine Lane. If anyone is out there please message me and we will do what we can to help.

Day 1.

I was ready. Ready as you could be. I couldn't believe that this was actually happening. An actual zombie outbreak. This is the kind of thing only thought up in video games or movies. But its here. They tried to stop the infection but it moved so quickly. Airborne they presumed. It finally hit the west coast. Anaheim. The city of Disneyland. Happiest place on earth my ass. Army came down here so fast it would've made your head spin. Too late though, infection had already spread to the majority of the city. As soon as I heard I called everyone I cared for; I was ready. Got my girlfriend and my best friend to get our families together and head to the best place for an outbreak. Costco. Sadly not everyone made it. A cousin of mine and his girlfriend died. She was pregnant. My brother died. He went to Los Angeles to find his girlfriend. His brother in law called us and said he had never made it. My girlfriend's family was okay. My girlfriends brother was called to duty to help with refugees about a couple weeks prior. He never even went to boot camp. Last she heard he was in Chicago, helping to drive off the dead. My best friend's family didn't seem like they wanted to be here with us. They felt like they needed to find there family and be with them. But my friend convinced them that I knew what I was doing. I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. I was ready with maps and equipment and a plan. But not ready to be a leader, I'm only a 19 year old kid that was going to a community college to get a degree in computer science. I have no idea how to be a leader. I don't want to fail them. I can't fail them. I won't fail them. Just gotta take this day by day.  I'm writing this the day after we got here. When we arrived everything thing was stocked and untouched. I was pretty surprised that this Costco wasn't looted like all the other stores. But then again we got here around 3 a.m. My older brother Hugo works the grave shift here. Lucky for us he had stolen the key from one of the security guards that he was cool with. Don't worry he was already dead when we got here, so technically it wasn't stealing . We opened up shop and got to work. We started to reinforce the metal doors, set up the camping tents, made sure there was no entrances that were not blocked off, made plans for refugees if any came our way, and prayed that all our other loved ones would get our text messages to meet us here. Thats why I'm posting this here. I hope that someone finds this and sends us help. Or if someone is needing help, We are here. Costco in Irvine, CA 1234 Irvine Lane. If anyone is out there please message me and we will do what we can to help.
